The Anglo-Australasian Lawyers Society

Reminder: Supreme Court Lecture, Thursday 23 July

22nd July 2009

The AALS UK Chapter welcomes you to a lecture by David Jackson Q.C., of Seven Wentworth Chambers, Sydney on the new Supreme Court: an Australian perspective.

The talk will be held at 6pm on Thursday 23 July 2009 in the Downer Room at Australia House, the Strand, London WC2B 4LA and will be followed by a reception.

David Jackson Q.C. is the leading Australian constitutional lawyer.  His essential theme will be that the creation of the Supreme Court will be a move towards institutionalisation of a ‘separation of powers’ concept in the UK, not de iure, but the Supreme Court is likely to grow confident in its position and governments will be reluctant to tinker, at least adversely, with it.

PLEASE NOTE:

  1. RSVP (required for security reasons) to enquiries@aals.co.uk
  2. Please bring ID with you to the event

We look forward to seeing you at this lecture.

The Committee.
